Thermafleece, nature’s finest insulation supplier is worked with locally based felt designer, Becky Eden from Felt from the Fields, to provide the ultimate bike makeover to support Wool Week 2014
Thermafleece were thrilled to be involved in this year’s Wool Week, The Campaign for Wool’s Wool Ride launched in a frenzy of fibre as over 300 wool loving cyclists from across the country gathered in London for a one of a kind experience. Starting and finishing at Potters Fields on Sunday 5th October, the bicycle ride took in some of London’s key sights and hotspots, passing through iconic scenery such as; London Bridge, Buckingham Palace, Westminster, Knightsbridge, Park Lane and Regent Street.
Thermafleece Managing Director Mark Lynn attending the ride said “This was a great opportunity to get together with people as passionate as us about the many benefits of wool in all its forms and to do something different to promote this wonderful material. Becky did a great job on our bikes and our helmets, so much so that one of our team won the award for wackiest outfit! What's more, we were asked to ride off from the front which was a great experience ”
The Campaign for Wool is a global endeavour initiated by its Patron His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales in order to raise awareness for wool as a modern, versatile, lifestyle fibre.
Becky’s creative flair was certainly challenged with this commission, Becky comments “This has been an exciting piece of work, using many of the skills I have learned through slipper-making and sheep-inspired artwork. Wool really does lend itself to so many different forms and this project gave me the chance to explore new avenues of felt-work. I was also pleased to discover that Thermafleece needle-felts rather well!
